Puri: A major fire broke out in the Balukhand forest in Puri Sadar region on Wednesday evening leading to destruction of around eight acres of forest land.
Local Forest Range Officer, Benudhar Behera said the fire could have started with a cigerete light and intensified into the jungle.
“Three fire engines and eight tractors were deployed and the blaze has been brought under control. We will guard the forest during the night to ensure that the fire does not advance any further,” said Behera.
