Nuapada: A live pangolin weighing 11.2 kg was rescued and six people were arrested during a raid from a house at Jhankarguda village in Sinapali block in Odisha’s Nuapada district on Tuesday. The raid was undertaken jointly by the Sinapali Forest Department and Chhattisgarh Forest Department personnel.
Acting on a tip-off, forest personnel in Sinapali and from Chhattisgarh raided a house in Jhankarguda and rescued the pangolin. Six wildlife smugglers were arrested in this connection and three motorcycles were seized from their possession.
The Forest Department has launched a probe into the matter to identify and arrest others involved in wildlife smuggling in the region.
