Bhubaneswar: A former Assistant Engineer of Champua Block in Keonjhar district has been sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment and fined by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar.
Gourahari Sahu was convicted of misappropriating government funds allocated for road improvement work under the MGNREG scheme in Champua Block.
The Odisha Vigilance had charge sheeted Sahu under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC for the offence. Following his conviction, the Vigilance department will now approach the competent authority to initiate proceedings for stopping Sahu’s pension.
