Bhubaneswar: Former MLA from Balikuda, Umesh Chandra Swain, passed away following a cardiac arrest at his residence in Bhubaneswar today morning.
A native of Machhagaon in Jagatsinghpur district, Swain was born on November 15, 1948, and had entered into politics after his education in 1972.
He had been the MLA of Balikuda Assembly Constituency from the year 1977-1980, and 1990-1995 as a Janata Dal candidate, and from the year 2000-2004, 2004-2009 as an Indian National Congress candidate.
