Bhubaneswar: Exactly a week after quitting BJD, former Bargarh MP Prabhas Singh joined the BJP at the saffron party’s headquarters in New Delhi.
After joining the BJP, Prabhas Singh said, there is no self-respect in BJD and that is why he has left BJD.
A double engine government is needed to take Odisha on the path of development, Singh added. BJP should come to power there. Winds of change are blowing in Odisha. Some of the plans that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has planned are yet to be implemented.
In 2014, Prabhas Singh was elected to Lok Sabha from Bargarh seat on a BJD ticket. He was a ticket aspirant in 2019 as well. But the party relied on Prasanna Acharya instead. However, Acharya was defeated. Singh hoped to get a ticket this time. But the party gave the ticket to Parineeta Mishra. He resigned from BJD after this. He said that the BJD no longer has any principle or ideal.
Notably, the BJP has already announced its candidate for the Bargarh Lok Sabha seat. The party has nominated former Padmapur MLA Pradeep Purohit from Bargarh Lok Sabha seat. Last time the party gave the ticket to Suresh Pujari from this seat and he won. Pujari this time been named as the party’s candidate for the Assembly seat from Brajrajnagar.
