Bhubaneswar: With a few days left for the Lok Sabha and Assembly Elections to kick start, senior leader of Biju Janata Dal and former Bargarh MP Prabhas Singh resigned from the party’s primary membership on Monday.
Disappointed over the denial of the ticket for the Bargarh Lok Sabha seat, Singh also resigned from the BJD’s district president post. He submitted his resignation letter to BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik after visiting him at his residence Naveen Niwas today.
It is pertinent to mention that though he won and was elected to the Lok Sabha from Bargarh in 2014 elections, BJD deprived him of ticket in 2019. He was hopeful of getting a ticket for Bargarh Lok Sabha seat in 2024. However, BJD disappointed him this time too. On the other hand, BJD fielded Parinita Mishra as its candidate for Bargarh Lok Sabha seat.
Irked over the denial of the ticket twice, Singh decided to leave BJD.
