Balasore: Former BJD Councillor Shakir Khan of Ward No 7 in Balasore district was brutally assaulted by unidentified miscreants near the Town Police Station late Monday night. The attack, suspected to be the outcome of a long-standing enmity, left Khan with serious head injuries and multiple broken teeth.
According to reports, Khan had gone to the police station to discuss an ongoing case. While returning home later that night, he was reportedly waylaid and attacked by a group of assailants.
Local residents rushed Khan to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for immediate medical assistance. However, due to the seriousness of his injuries, he was later referred to Fakir Mohan Medical College & Hospital for advanced treatment.
Upon receiving information about the attack, police personnel reached the scene and began a preliminary investigation.
A case has been registered and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits involved.
