Bhubaneswar: Ajay Kumar Jena, a former MLA representing the Brahmagiri constituency in Odisha, passed away on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 80.
Jena was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly twice – in 1977 and 1990 on Janata Party and Janata Dal tickets, respectively.
Born on July 27, 1943, in Titipa village under Krushnaprasad block of Puri district, Jena was a well-known social worker in his region.
A pall of gloom descended on the Brahmagiri area as the news of Jena’s death spread. A large number of people, including political leaders cutting across party lines have condoled Jena’s demise.
