Bhubaneswar: The former branch manager of Bolangir Anchalika Gramya Bank’s Dahita Branch in Bargarh, has been convicted for demanding and accepting bribes from a farmer in exchange for sanctioning an agriculture cash credit loan.
Khirod Kumar Sarangi was sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment and fined by the special vigilance court in Bargarh.
The case against Sarangi was registered under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Following his conviction, Odisha Vigilance will now move to concerned authorities to stop Sarangi’s pension, as per the rules.
