Bhubaneswar: Former Congress MLA Ramesh Saren passed away late on Monday night at a private nursing home in Bhubaneswar. He was 80.

Saren was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly thrice from the Khunta constituency in the Mayurbhanj district. He created a unique identity in the district as a very tough Congress leader.

As the news of his demise spread, a gloom spread in Mayurbhanj. Several political leaders and dignitaries from other fields including former MP Shushila Thiria, former minister Saraswati Hembram, Mayurbhanj District Congress Committee member Rakesh Singh, former Deputy Speaker Sanand Marandi, and many others visited his residence in Valiyadiha village in Khunta block to pay their last respects to the departed leader.
