Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader and former Dhamnagar MLA Rajendra Kumar Das with hundreds of BJP workers and officer bearers today joined the BJD at the party’s headquarters–Sankha Bhawan here in the presence of Rajya Sabha Member and BJD national spokesperson Sasmit Patra.
Das was welcomed into the BJD fold by Patra, who presented him with a stole bearing the party’s sankha (conch) symbol.
Speaking on the occasion, Das said that being inspired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s pro-people work, transparent governance, clean image and ideology he formally joined the BJD today.
“Earlier I was in the BJD but had later joined the BJP. I didn’t like the mismanagement in the BJP. Therefore, I quit the BJP and made a homecoming. In the coming days, BJD will win in every constituency in Bhadrak district. I will sincerely undertake whatever responsibility Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik entrusts me in building a new Odisha. I express my gratitude to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, and the party’s Organisational Secretary Pranab Prakash Das for admitting me and BJP workers who joined the party with me,” stated Das after joining the BJD.
Das resigned from the primary membership of the BJP today, two days after the BJP replaced him with Parshuram Dhada as its candidate for Soro Assembly seat.
Dhada, a two-time MLA from Soro, had joined the BJP after resigning from BJD two days ago.
Das, a former BJD MLA, had revolted against the party during the by-election in Dhamnagar in 2022 for which he was expelled from the party.
