Bhubaneswar: A former Senior Clerk-cum-In-charge Head Clerk in the office of the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Gondia Block in Dhenkanal has been convicted and sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment in a corruption case.
Bhagirathi Sahoo was found guilty of demanding and accepting a bribe from a retired employee for processing pension benefits.
The case against Sahoo was registered by the Cuttack Vigilance Police Station in 2018 under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. After a thorough investigation and trial, the Special Vigilance court in Dhenkanal sentenced Sahoo to three years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine.
Following his conviction, the Odisha Vigilance Department will initiate proceedings to stop Sahoo’s pension, as per applicable laws and regulations.
