Bhubaneswar: A former In-charge Headmaster of Krupasindhu High School in Cuttack was convicted in a corruption case. The Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack, found Himansu Behera guilty under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant in exchange for signing the attendance register and processing his salary bill.
The court sentenced Behera to four years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine. Following the verdict, Behera was taken into custody to serve his sentence.
Notably, as Behera had retired from service, the Odisha Vigilance will now initiate proceedings to stop his pension benefits in light of his conviction. This case highlights the Vigilance department’s commitment to tackling corruption and ensuring accountability among public servants.
