Former JE Convicted, Sentenced To Three Years RI In DA Case

Bhubaneswar: A former JE of Gunupur in Rayagada was sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 2 lakh in a disproportionate asset case.

A special vigilance court in Jeypore ordered the former JE Saroj Kumar Panda to undergo six months more rigorous imprisonment for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act, 1988 in default of payment of fine.

Panda was arrested by Vigilance in 2013 for possession of disproportionate assets.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the dismissal of Panda from service following his conviction.
