Bhubaneswar: The superintendent of Keonjhar district jail was arrested by vigilance for possessing disproportionate assets. The arrest follows searches conducted on his properties by the Vigilance Department, which uncovered unexplained wealth exceeding his known sources of income.
The accused, Satya Prakash Swain was earlier working as superintendent of Jharpada special jail in Bhubaneswar.
The seized assets accumulated include a four-storey building in Bhubaneswar valued at over Rs. 1.5 crore, four high-value plots, household articles worth over Rs. 15 lakhs,
Swain, who previously served as Superintendent of Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar, was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the source of these assets.
A case has been registered against Swain under Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 19/2024. He will be produced in court today.
