Bhubaneswar: Former Kendrapara MLA and BJD District President Utkal Keshari Parida passed away today while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 65.

His family members confirmed his death news following which condolences poured in from politicians cutting across the party lines.

Parida was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Kendrapara in 2004 on an Odisha Gana Parishad (OGP) ticket, securing 60,848 votes and defeating BJP candidate Bed Prakash Agarwal.

His journey in politics began during his college days, where he served as the President of Salipur College Students’ Union from 1980 to 1981. Later, he served as the Chairman of the Derabish block. He was the President of the Kendrapada district wing of BJD from 2019 to 2023. His early involvement in politics laid the groundwork for his future in public service.
