Bhubaneswar: Sanchita Mohanty, a prominent BJP leader and former MLA from Korei constituency, passed away at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar today. She had been ill for a long time and was undergoing treatment. She was 67.
According to reports, Mohanty, who represented Korei in the State Assembly from 2004 to 2009, felt ill this morning and was rushed to the hospital, where she died.
Several BJP leaders have expressed their condolences on her passing.
Born on September 17, 1958, Mohanty was the daughter of Rajendra Kumar Singh. She held a postgraduate degree in political science and Odissi dance, and later studied law at Utkal University. Mohanty was an active member of the BJP and played a significant role in Odisha politics.
