Former Kujang IIC Tapan Nahak Arrested After Suspension Over False Promise To Marry Home Guard

Bhubaneswar: Former Kujang IIC Tapan Nahak accused of maintaining a physical relationship with a female home guard under the false promise of marriage, was suspended for his ‘gross misconduct and abuse of official position’.

DGP YB Khurania suspended him with immediate effect in the interest of public service and to ensure fairness in enquiry said a statement issued by the police headquarters.

A disciplinary proceeding has also been initiated against Nahak.

“During the period the order remains in force, he will remain under the disciplinary control of D.I.G. of Police, CR, Cuttack and draw SA and DA as admissible under Rule 90 of Odisha Service Code,” the statement added.

After suspension, he was also arrested and forwarded to court.

According to reports, Nahak reportedly kept physical relationship with the home guard During his tenure as the additional IIC of Jagatsinghpur around two months ago. The home guard was also working in the same police station. Subsequently, he was transferred as IIC of Kujang police station.

On Monday, the home guard lodged a complaint against the officer at Jagatsinghpur police station after Nahak refused to marry her.
