Baripada: Former Minister and ex-MLA of Udala, Golak Bihari Nayak, passed away on Wednesday. He was suffering from kidney disease for a long time. He breathed his last at around 10 am in a private nursing home at Baripada where he had gone for blood dialysis.
Nayak had started his political career from the BJP and later joined the BJD. He was elected twice from BJP in 2000-2004 and 2004-2009 and served as Minister of Textile, Fisheries and Animal Resources Department. He lost the Assembly polls in 2009.
He was also in charge as the Chairman of the District Planning Board. He subsequently withdrew from direct politics due to ill health. His sudden death cast a shadow of mourning in the area. His last rites will be done at his paternal village Budheirana in Badasahi block of Mayurbhanj district.
