Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday issued an order related to the compulsory retirement of Prashanta Rout, the former Nabarangpur Additional Sub-Collector who was arrested in connection with amassing over Rs 5 crore disproportionate assets.
It is worth mentioning here that over Rs 3 crore unaccounted cash was seized from his residences in Bhubaneswar and Nabarangpur during simultaneous searches by the Odisha Vigilance sleuths on June 23. Rout was arrested on the following day for allegedly accumulating assets 506% of his known sources of income.
A multistorey building, five plots, bank and insurance deposits of over Rs 62 lakh, and 2 four-wheelers were also seized from his possession. The OAS officer spent Rs 87 lakh on the education of his children and also made regular cash deposits in a number of benami bank accounts.
