Bhubaneswar: Former Speaker of Odisha Assembly Maheswar Mohanty was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after he complained of uneasiness on Wednesday night.
According to reports, the senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and a former minister attended several programmes in Puri and took part in the Gajalakshmi Puja celebration in the Badashankha area. After he returned home, Mohanty complained of uneasiness and started trembling. He was rushed to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
According to Puri Town BJD president Sabyasachi Mohapatra, Mohanty’s condition is stable now.”
Last month, Mohanty was admitted to the hospital with illness for a few days.
A five-time MLA from Puri Assembly constituency, Mohanty lost the 2019 elections. Aside from holding key portfolios in Naveen Patnaik’s Cabinet, Mohanty was the Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly from May 21, 2004, to March 31, 2008.
