Dhenkanal: The Kamakshyanagar SDJM court on Wednesday sentenced Sanjay Kumar Satapathy, a former banking assistant, to two years of rigorous imprisonment for misappropriating Rs 1.15 crore from United Central Cooperative Bank in Odisha’s Angul.
The court also slapped a fine of Rs 13,000 on Satapathy.
Satpathy along with three other staff members of the United Central Cooperative Bank had misappropriated Rs.1,15,16,300 in 2015-16 fiscal by crediting the amount to 65 different accounts from different heads of general ledger account through 187 transactions and subsequently withdrew the entire amount using the user ID of the account holders.
The court pronounced the quantum of punishment on Wednesday after finding him guilty under Sections 409/467/468/471/477-A/120-B of IPC.
