Jharsuguda: Mortal remains of former Odisha Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Hemananda Biswal were consigned to flames at the Swargadwar crematorium here today.
The former Chief Minister was offered a guard of honour by the State Police.
Biswal’s nephew lit the funeral pyre.
Biswal’s body was taken to the crematorium in a procession amid the beating of traditional drums.
Health Minister Naba Das, Sundargarh MLA Kusum Tete, Jharsuguda Collector Saroj Samal, SP Bikash Das, among others, paid their last respects to the departed leader and were present at the funeral.
Biswal passed away on Friday at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after a brief illness.
