Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha DGP Sarat Chandra Mishra breathed his last in a city hospital on Tuesday morning. Mishra was 88, informed his brother Bipin Bihari Mishra.
Sarat Mishra was suffering from dengue and was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for the last few days.
A 1959 IPS officer, Mishra served as DGP Odisha in 1991-92. He also served in the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) for a long time. After retirement, he devoted his time to the DAV Movement and to writing. He was an outstanding police officer, a sagacious thinker, and an eminent writer.
Many prominent persons, including his former colleagues in Odisha Police, condoled Mishra’s death.
