Bhubaneswar: Former Panchayat Extension Officer (PEO) of Gopalpur Gram Panchayat under Thuamul Rampur Block, Kalahandi, has been convicted by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna, in a bribery case.
Kshyama Prasad Duria was charged with demanding and taking a bribe of Rs. 6,000 from a beneficiary to clear a pending bill of Rs. 20,000 under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
The court sentenced Duria to three years of simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 50,000. Odisha Vigilance will now move to dismiss Duria from service following his conviction.
