Former PEO Trinath Sethy Convicted For Bribery, Sentenced To 3 Years

Dhenkanal: The Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal has convicted former Panchayat Extension Officer (PEO) Trinath Sethy in a bribery case and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 3 years and imposed a fine.

Sethy, who served as PEO of Asarada GP under Hindol Block and Barada GP under Sadar Block, Dhenkanal, was found guilty of demanding and taking a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from a beneficiary to submit a verification report for houses constructed under the Biju Pucca Ghara Yojana.

The Odisha Vigilance had charge-sheeted Sethy under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act, 1988. Following his conviction, the Odisha Vigilance will move the competent authority for his dismissal from service.
