Bhubaneswar: Former Remuna MLA Sudarshan Jena resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Friday.
Jena has sent his resignation letter to BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
In his resignation letter, Jena has cited that he has been sidelined and humiliated in the party.
Jena was elected to the Vidhan Sabha in 2009 from Remuna on a BJD ticket. He had polled 55,847 votes.
However, in 2014 he was defeated by BJP’s Gobind Chandra Das by a margin of more than 13,000 votes.
In 2019, Sudhansu Sekhar Parida was given a BJD ticket instead of Jena and the former had won.
