Bhubaneswar: A former Revenue Inspector (RI) of Karlamunda Tahasil in Kalahandi district, has been convicted and sentenced to three years of simple imprisonment.
Ramesh Chandra Barad was also fined Rs. 20,000 by special vigilance court in Bhawanipatna for demanding and accepting bribes from a complainant to demarcate their land.
The conviction was made possible by Odisha Vigilance, which had charge-sheeted Barad in a case (Koraput Vigilance PS Case No. 12, dated 22.04.2021) under Section 7 of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018.
As a result of his conviction, Odisha Vigilance will now pursue Barad’s dismissal from his current position as Revenue Supervisor, Narla Tahasil in Kalahandi district.
