Bhubaneswar: A Special Court in Bhubaneswar on Monday ordered confiscation of assets worth Rs 1.07 crore of a retired Soil Conservation Officer (SCO) Dasarathi Tripathy following his conviction in a graft case slapped by Odisha Vigilance.
Tripathy was posted in Malkangiri district.
As per the release by Vigilance Directorate, the Authorised Officer at the Special Court, Bhubaneswar ordered confiscation of the movable and immovable assets worth Rs.1, 07, 66, 430 of Tripathy, who was charge-sheeted by Vigilance in a disproportionate assets case and convicted by the Court.
Tripathy was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Vigilance PS Case under Sections 13(2)r/w13(1)(e) of the PC Act, 1988 for possession of disproportionate assets. A Special Vigilance Court in Bhubaneswar convicted Tripathy on July 24, 2019.
Assets of Tripathy confiscated by the Court include immovable assets such as land measuring approximately 3600 Sqft at Batamangala in Puri, land measuring 126 dcml at Mouza-Janla, Bhubaneswar and another GA plot of 2400 Sqft at Bharatpur in Bhubaneswar and movable assets (Bank, Postal & LIC deposits).
Following the conviction of Tripathy, Vigilance had communicated to the competent authority to take appropriate action against him. Also, Tripathy was imposed with penalty of withholding full pension and gratuity permanently by the competent authority.
