Bhubaneswar: A special vigilance court in Bolangir convicted the former Tahasildar-cum-SubRegistrar of Tarva in Subarnapur, and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years.
The court also ordered Subrat Kumar Behera to pay a fine of Rs. 30,000. Behera was found guilty of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from a complainant for registering a sale deed.
The Odisha Vigilance had charge-sheeted Behera in 2020 under the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018. Following his conviction, the Vigilance will move for Behera’s dismissal from service as Tahasildar of Kodinga in Nabarangpur.
