Bhubaneswar: Sahu Meher, former Amin under Tarva Tahasil in Subarnapur district, has been convicted in a bribery case and sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine by the Special Vigilance Judge in Balangir.
Meher was found guilty of demanding and taking a bribe for the demarcation of plots of a landowner.
The Odisha Vigilance had charge-sheeted Meher under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Following his conviction, Meher was taken into jail custody to serve his sentence.
The Odisha Vigilance will now move to stop Meher’s pension as a result of his conviction.
