Bhubaneswar: Veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister Kanhu Charan Lenka breathed his last at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar at the age of 87.
Lenka, who was born on March 2, 1939, had served as a Union Minister in the PV Narasimha Rao government and was a prominent leader of the Congress party in Odisha. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1988 to 1994 and represented the Choudwar constituency in the Odisha Assembly from 1995 to 2000.
The Congress leader was known for his strong views on party affairs and had played a key role in strengthening the party in Odisha during his tenure as a Minister.
Lenka’s association with the Congress party spanned several decades, and he was respected for his unwavering commitment to the party’s ideals.
His demise has been condoled by senior Congress leaders.
His passing away has created a void in the state’s political landscape.
