Bhubaneswar: A former president of Village Education Committee of Baghasingsahi Primary School under R.Udayagiri police station in Gajapati district has been convicted and sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment in a corruption case.
A special vigilance court in Berhampur also directed Dukha Mandal to pay a fine of Rs.10,000 and in default of payment of fine, he would undergo three months rigorous imprisonment for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) of PC Act, 1988.
The Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years more and to pay fine of Rs.5,000. In default of payment of fine, he has to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one more month. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
Mandal was arrested by the vigilance for misappropriation of Government fund meant for construction of new primary school building at Baghasingsahi in Gajapati.
