Four Arrested By Balasore Police On Charges Of Spying For A Foreign Agency

Balasore: The district police have arrested four persons on charges of spying and sharing information related to National security with an international agency. Special teams of Balasore police had detained the four on Monday night. They were formally arrested today evening, Superintendent of Police Sudhansu Sekhar Mishra said.

“We have apprehended four persons in this connection and they will forwarded to the court soon. They were working on contractual basis in that area. More persons might be involved in this case and further investigation is on,” Mishra said.

“We had credible input on some people passing sensitive information pertaining to national security with a foreign agency. A special team was setup by Balasore police and apprehended four persons. A similar case was investigated by the Crime Branch earlier, in which the accused was convicted,” said IG Police, Himanshu Lal.

According to reports, the four persons were tracked by tracing a phone call over which sensitive information was being shared by an intelligence agency of a neighbouring country. One among the four worked as an operator at Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, reports added.
