Four Awarded 20-Years RI In Gang-Rape Case In Sundargarh

Sundargarh: A court today sentenced four persons to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each convict for gang-raping a college girl four years ago.

The additional sessions judge, Sundargarh also directed the convicts-Mahendra Oram (26), Lalindra Oram (24), Kishore Ekka (24),and Ranjit Oram (26) to undergo three months more imprisonment in default of payment of fine.

The court delivered the judgment based on the statements of 17 witnesses and other evidence.

The court also directed the district legal services authority to pay a compensation of Rs 7 lakh to the victim.

Notably, the complainant, a 19-year-old college girl of Talsara area was gang-raped by four young men in a forest in 2019. She had lodged a complaint at Sadar police station.
