Paradip: In a significant development, the Paradip Lock police have detained four Bangladeshi nationals who had allegedly entered India illegally and were residing in a rented house in the Atharabanki area of Paradip.
According to police sources, all four detainees belong to the same family and had crossed into Indian territory via West Bengal before arriving in Odisha’s coastal town.
The detention followed a raid conducted by the Paradip Lock police, who were acting on intelligence inputs. During initial interrogation, the Bangladeshi nationals reportedly confessed their identity and their illegal entry, though no valid identification documents were found in their possession.
The motive behind their unauthorised entry remains unclear. Police are currently questioning the individuals to ascertain the reason for their movement and stay in Paradip. Authorities have indicated that the matter is being treated with seriousness, and further action will be taken in line with government directives and applicable legal provisions.
The development has raised concerns about border security and unauthorised migration, particularly in strategic port areas like Paradip. Officials are also looking into whether any local individuals or networks may have assisted the family in securing accommodation or travel within India.
As of now, the detained individuals remain in custody while investigations continue.
