Bhubaneswar: A group of four burglars allegedly broke into a duplex in a residential complex under Pahala police limits on Friday night, stealing gold jewelry and cash worth around Rs 40 lakh.
The burglars struck at the home of a family who was preparing for one of their daughter’s weddings.
According to reports, the miscreants targeted the duplex in the Citi Homes complex in Pahala’s Tiranapada while the family members were away for wedding-related work.
Initial reports indicate that the burglars took gold, diamonds, silver, and cash meant for the wedding.
They also damaged the CCTV system, stealing the cameras. The family immediately reported the incident to the Pahala police, who arrived at the scene, recovered footage from the Digital Video Recorder (DVR), and launched an investigation.
This incident adds to a growing number of burglaries, robberies, and theft cases in the capital city, particularly in areas on the outskirts like Pahala, Chandaka, and Airfield, where similar crimes have been reported in the past month.
