Four Dead After Consuming Illegally Distilled Liquor In Angul

Angul: As many as four persons died within two days while two others were hospitalised after allegedly consuming illegally distilled liquor at Pathargarh under Purunakote police limits in Angul district.

As per an FIR lodged at Purunakote Police Station on Tuesday, a building contractor Kalia Dehury had engaged 15-20 labourers for construction of a house in Pathargarh.

In addition to payment, he used to give liquor to the labourers. It is alleged that Kalia manufactured illegal illicitly distilled liquor in the jungle of the village.

Kalia was assisted by Basant Dehury and Sashikant Dehury in manufacturing illicit liquor. Basant and Sahishkant were also engaged in the construction work as labourers and consumed liquor after labour work.

Four persons, including one accused Sashikant, have died after allegedly consuming the liquor. Another accused Basant is undergoing treatment while the prime accused Kalia has been arrested.

The other three deceased have been identified as Kaira Pradhan (20), Tukuna Pradhan (30) and Sashibhusan Dehury (32).

Meanwhile, police stated that Post Mortem of two dead bodies has been conducted, viscera has been preserved and blood samples of the victims have been collected to ascertain the cause of death.
