Four Gates Closed At Hirakud Dam As Water Level Recedes

Bhubaneswar: Four gates at the Hirakud reservoir have been closed following a decrease in the water level.

Meanwhile, 14 gates are currently in operation, discharging floodwater, with 9 gates open on the left side and 5 sluice gates open on the right side. The reservoir’s water level stands at 612.52 feet.

According to sources, the reservoir is receiving an inflow of 1,78,981 cusecs, while 3,11,383 cusecs of water is being discharged downstream.

The authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safe passage of floodwaters. With the decrease in water level, the situation is being managed to prevent any potential flooding downstream.
