Bhubaneswar: In a crackdown on illegal coal mining activities, Sundargarh district authorities have arrested four persons from different locations under the Mahanadi Coalfields area.

The Hemgiri police apprehended the accused—Samir Dansena (Ratansara), Golananda Majhi (Ratanpur), Hemanand Seth (Jhupuranga), and Alok Seth (Gopalpur)—following a complaint by Junior Mining Officer Mangal Charan Hembram from Rourkela.

Police seized two tractors and multiple motorcycles used in the illegal operations. The arrests were made after verification of reports about unlawful mining in Telendihi, Ratansara, and Bhograkachhar areas.

Sundargarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) has informed that a case has been registered and four persons have been arrested for their involvement in illegal coal mining.
