The action was taken based on a complaint lodged by one Duryodhan Acharya (55) of Talabeda village at Talcher Police Station on July 18.

Acharya had alleged that at around 11.40 AM on July 18, he along with his wife were going to their relative’s house at Nabamishra Colony by his motorcycle. On the way in front of Annapurna Honda Showroom, two unknown culprits came on a black Pulsar from their backside and snatched away one gold chain from the neck of his wife, and fled away towards Talcher Bypass Chowk.

The culprits were able to take only half a piece of the gold chain, while the other half was produced by Acharya before the police.

Out of the two culprits, one was identified and apprehended. He had given the stolen half portion of the gold chain to one of his friends of Balasingha village to sell. The receiver sold the stolen half gold chain to one goldsmith of this village for Rs 10,000. The goldsmith had melted the gold chain and had sold it.

Subsequently, police nabbed all four persons and recovered the gold in a melted condition from the final receiver.
