Ganjam: Five persons were killed and more than 30 injured in a fatal road accident at Berhampur Samarjhola Street under Hinjili police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, the accident occurred near Samarjhola Chakka when an oil tanker collided with a passenger bus. While the passenger bus was en route to Berhampur from Aska to Berhampur, the oil tanker was going from Berhampur to Aska. In a bid to overtake a truck in front of it, the tanker rammed into the passenger bus.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the oil tanker overturned on a roadside tea shop. Three deceased were having morning tea at the tea stall, while the fourth victim is said to be a passenger of the bus. Traffic on this road has been disrupted following the accident.
