Four Maoists Cadre Including One Minor Surrender In Odisha’s Rourkela

Rourkela: Three armed cadre Maoists, including one minor boy, and one Jan Militia of the banned outfit CPI (Maoists) surrendered before the Rourkela Police today.

The armed cadre Maoists were identified as Jagan Singh alias Premchand Munda aka Jagdish aka Ratan (23), Matu Buding alias Tejas (31) and Sushil Munda alias Maga (15), while the Jan Militia was identified as Gomia Munda alias Guma (35).

Jagan, who had a bounty of Rs 4 lakh on his head, is a resident of Karda village under Chandiposh of Sundergarh district. He had joined the Maoist movement at the age of 15 in 2010 after being motivated by Anmol.

He was involved in Exchange of Fire in Boudh, Kandhamal, Angul, Sambalpur, Deogarh and Sundargarh Districts. Due to his fluency in all the native languages in Odisha and Jharkhand, he was an important accomplice of Anmol and in due course he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Commander of SDS Platoon (ACM). He left the Maoists Organization due to constant threat to life, ageing parents and frustration with the Maoists ideology.

Matu, who had a bounty of Rs 1 lakh on his head, is a resident of Baduiya village under Chhotnagra police limits of West Singhbhum district in Jharkhand. He had joined the CPI (Maoists) Organization in 2009 as a Militia. At first he acted as a ration carrier and helped Maoists in providing logistics during meetings in their villages.

He was arrested in 2010 by Chhotnagra PS for his involvement in a Landmine blast in Jamkundia, Chhotnagra PS and was Jail Custody in Chaibasa. He worked as a party member in SDS division of CPI (Maoists) headed by Anmol until June 2018. He gave up arms due to consistent Anti Naxalite Operations by Police Forces, harassment by senior Maoists Cadres.

Sushil, a resident of Lunga village under Mahulpada police limits of Sundergarh district, joined the CPI (Maoists) after being motivated by the Maoists ideology during a meeting conducted by Anmol in their village. However, he left the party due to unhealthy condition and continuous harassment by senior Cadres.

Gomia, a resident of Kendudihi under Rugudi police limits of Keonjhar district, was a Jan Militia since 2008 and was close acquaintance of Gunga Munda alias Gunga and Mochhu. In due course of time he was made Militia commander. He helped them in providing logistics support, rations and uniforms etc. When Maoists Cadres surrendered he decided to surrender before Police and express his willingness to join the mainstream of society.
