Bhubaneswar: Four more sluice gates of Hirakud dam reservoir were opened on Friday to release excess water as heavy rains lashed Chhattisgarh and the upper catchment of the Mahanadi river.
Ten gates of the dam were opened yesterday. It is presently releasing 39,957 cusec water through 14 sluice gates. The inflow of the water into the dam is 3,97,451 cusec. The reservoir level is 615.17 feet.
