Bhubaneswar: At least four workers from Odisha lost their lives in the devastating explosion at Sigachi Industries Limited’s pharmaceutical factory in Telangana’s Sangareddy district, while three others are currently undergoing treatment, confirmed State Labour and Family Welfare Department.
The deceased have been identified as Jagan Mohan from Ganjam, Lagnajit Duari from Cuttack’s Tigiria, Manoj Raut from Balasore, and Dolagobinda Sahu from Jajpur.
Three other workers who sustained injuries are Sameer Padhi from Ganjam, Chandan Kumar Naik from Bhadrak and Neelambar Bhadra from Nabarangpur. Padhi is currently in the ICU at Pranaam Hospital in Madinaguda with 35% burn injuries and he is out of danger. Chandan and Neelamber, on the other hand, are being treated in the general ward. Their condition is stated to be stable. This has been informed by Odisha Labour and Family Welfare Department.
Notably, as many as 42 people were killed in the blast at Sigachi Industries Limited in Pashamylaram industrial estate. Concerned over the mishap, the Odisha government dispatched a two-member team to the site for ground-level assessment.
The two-member team, comprising Pritish Panda (OSD, Directorate of Odisha Paribar) and Dr. Chandra Sekhar Hota (OPS), has been dispatched to the site to assess the situation and coordinate with local administration.
