Four Odisha Rugby Players Find Place In India National U-20 Squads

Bhubaneswar: Four talented rugby players from Odisha, including two girls, have been selected for the Indian national U20 Men’s and Women’s squads for the Asia Rugby Emirates U20 Rugby 7s Championship 2025. The tournament is scheduled to begin on August 9-10 in Bihar’s Rajgir.

The selected players from Odisha are Ritu Majhi and Mamali Singh for the women’s team, and Charan Hembram and Bharat Kisan for the men’s team. The Indian Rugby Football Union announced the 12-member national squads on Sunday.

The teams were chosen after a national coaching camp that began on July 3 at the Sports Authority of India’s Netaji Subhas Eastern Centre in Kolkata. The Indian squads will compete against top rugby nations from Asia in the tournament.

The men’s category features teams from India, China, UAE, Hong Kong China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia. In the women’s category, Nepal replaces Malaysia in the lineup. The tournament promises to be an exciting competition, with India’s young rugby talents showcasing their skills on home soil.
