Four Persons Sentenced To 20 Years Imprisonment In Minor Girl Rape Case In Jajpur

Jajpur: A special POCSO court in Jajpur sentenced four persons to 20 years imprisonment each in the case of rape of a minor girl.

The Court also imposed fine of Rs 1 lakh each on the convicts failing which they would undergo six months of further imprisonment.

The court directed the District Legal Services Authority to pay Rs 6 lakh compensation to the victim.

Based on the statements of 22 witnesses and other evidence, the court held them guilty and sentenced them to 20 years imprisonment.

In 2021, a 17-year- year old college student of Kaliapani police station area was allegedly gang raped by four persons. The girl along with her boyfriend was going to a relative’s house in Tata Mines. On the way, she fell prey to gang rape.

The girl managed to escape and went to a relative’s house where she informed police.

The police reached the spot and rescued the girl and her male friend. Later, police arrested the accused and forwarded them to court.
