Four Returnees From ‘At-Risk’ Countries Found Positive In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: As many as four returnees from ‘at-risk’ countries have tested positive for Covid-19, informed Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra on Wednesday.

Mishra said that a total of 982 persons have returned to the state from ‘at-risk’ countries till yesterday evening. Four among them were found Covid positive. Their samples have been sent for genome sequencing to ascertain the presence of the Omicron variant.

Earlier on December 6, Ajay Parida, Director of Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, had informed that they had received 246 samples from different districts including a few foreign returnees for genome sequencing.

All these persons had been found to be Covid positive during the RT-PCR test. The results, to ascertain if they are infected with the Omicron variant, will be known by Friday (December 10).
