Cuttack: Commissionerate Police in Cuttack have arrested a fraudster who was allegedly trying to avail Rs 1 crore loan from a bank with forged documents while impersonating a doctor.
The accused has been identified as Sridhar Rout, a resident of Paika Sahi under Cuttack Sadar police limits.
According to Addl.DCP Anil Mishra, based on a written complaint by the Branch Manager of Nakhara branch of UCO Bank Abinash Sethi as the case was registered at Sadar police station on Friday under sections 419, 465, 468, and 471 of IPC.
“Prime accused Sridhar Rout, a resident of Paika Sahi under Sadar police limits posing himself as a doctor had applied for a Rs 1 crore loan from the bank. During verification bank authorities suspected the genuineness of the documents while detaining him for a while and immediately informed the police,” informed Mishra briefing reporters here today.
Mishra said that during the investigation the police found that accused Rout had availed loans from different banks to the tune of Rs 65 lakh by impersonation and submission of forged documents ranging from Aadhar cards to salary slips.
“He has several cases against his name at different police stations which include Puri Ghat police, Badambadi, Bhubaneswar, and several places outside the State like Jharkhand. He has identified himself as a doctor of AIIMS, Safdarjang Hospital, and has availed loans from several banks including a car loan. He has repaid some while he has defaulted on most,” he added.
