Freight Train Derails In Biramitrapur, 11 Wagons Off-Track; No Casualties Reported

Freight Train Derails

Bhubaneswar: In a concerning incident, a freight train carrying limestone derailed near the Upper Market area of Biramitrapur in Sundargarh district on Saturday.

The train was en route to Biramitrapur Railway Station from Chuna Bhatta Road when the mishap occurred.

According to reports, the train was transporting dolomite stones belonging to BSL Company when it suddenly went off-track, leading to the derailment of 11 wagons. The derailment took place in a semi-residential locality, raising serious concerns about public safety in the area.

Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life have been reported in connection with the incident.

Though the exact cause of the derailment is yet to be ascertained, railway authorities have launched a high-level inquiry. Senior officials from the railways have reached the site to assess the situation and oversee the recovery and investigation process.
